7 Types of Rest Everyone Needs 

We’ve all been there! We’ve all felt like no matter how much sleep we get or how early we sleep at night, we still wake up feeling tired. Sounds familiar? Well that’s because sleep and rest does not mean the same thing! All this time, we’ve lived life not knowing that there are other types of rest that we need in different aspects of our lives. We are missing the fact that rest means an even restoration of seven key areas in life. So, here are the seven types of rest that we all need:

  1. Physical: Not only sleep but also doing restorative activities that’s good for the body’s circulation (e.g: yoga, massage)
  2. Mental: Set aside some time during work to take a break and let your thought slow down. It could even be helpful to write down your thoughts, especially the intrusive ones.
  3. Sensory: Bright lights from phones and laptops can tire our senses. It’s very important to take a break from using our gadgets, especially near bedtime.
  4. Creative: It’s important to be inspired and brainstorm new ideas! Take a walk in nature or go to an art exhibition. Whatever it is, make sure you keep your brain interested and inspired to create!
  5. Emotional: If you’re feeling down, it would help to have someone to talk to who will listen and give their honest opinion without judgement. The point is to be honest with your feelings.
  6. Social: Learn to differentiate between relationships that keeps you positive and ones that drains you. Always be sure to surround yourself with people that supports you!
  7. Spiritual: Connect beyond your physical and mental state by meditating to feel a sense of love and belonging.

It’s obvious now that sleep alone is not enough to recharge and repair our overall well-being. Rest does not necessarily mean just sleeping because it could also be doing things that we genuinely like. So, it’s time to focus on lifting our energy by getting the rest that we need!
